Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges traditional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "A mysterious meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden sect.
The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
